Safety Precautions for Carpenters

Getting screwed while doing work using woods? It is because you are ignoring some basic safety tips that avoid the repetitive fear of hand being cut by a sharp blade. Improvising or neglecting safety measures are the major cause of construction site accidents. Carpentry can be a joyful hobby in leisure time, creating a structure utilizing own ideas when completed gives a sense of pleasure and proud. Patience should be preferred while cutting the woods. If you are a professional carpenter, it means your living is tied to this work. Surely, you do not want to cut your hand that may take many days to recover, be careful not to come at this serious point. Here are some tips so simple to follow but worthy to be applied, so do what you love with safety!

Show Some Responsibility:

Keep that in mind that you are doing a work that requires concentration and maturity. Carpentry and alcohol/drugs is a dangerous fusion. Some people drink alcohol or drugs during work to avoid any urge until they finish but you will cost more if you are under the influence of drugs or related substances.do not put yourself in danger when your co-worker doing so stop him before something tragic happens.

Take a Look at your Tools before Starting:

Preparation prior the beginning does not only related to safety but time-saving and keeps you away from distractions. Finding the relevant screw, nail or tool while the machine is running is like deliberately putting yourself in danger. To reduce the risk, check your kit for tools for the availability of all the related devices and tools. Isn’t your equipment cleaned? Then its working may hinder which again push you towards self-harm.

Personal Safety Equipment are must wear:

When you forget to wear personal protective equipment, you are a few moments away from the accident. Avoid wearing loose clothes, they may stuck in the blade and you can now clearly imagine what will occur next. Always wear glasses, respirators, gloves to reduce the risks. Remove any jewelry like bracelets and rings and tie your hairs. These are simple things to do so keep your safety superior before anything else in your wood workshop.

Keep yourself at Safety Distance from Running Equipment:

When working with an electric saw, do not put your hands near it while it’s running. Use a stick or sharp material to remove the cut-offs and debris, if there is any malfunction in the socket or plugs the saw may start when you are removing the debris with hands. Do not attempt removing the cut-offs during machine working.

Always Use Sharp Blades:

This may seem like ‘what?’ but this dull sounded tip may help you creating with fineness and finishing. On the other hand, when you are working hard using those blunt tools, your hand will come near the blade and you will get a cut.

6 Ways to Minimize Dust

So let’s pick up from where we left . In our last blog post we told you just  harmful  is dust for your health and hygiene. Well,  now is time for some useful practical tips to help you get rid of this scourge from our homes. Despite spending hours and hours every week removing it, there’s always some more waiting in the wings. At ALO Maids, we have trained our cleaners for months to the highest professional standard. We believe that with the right mix of skills, equipment and dedication, our professionals can help you get rid of dirt in your home and office. It is common knowledge that dust allergies are widespread in UAE because of the frequent dust storms and the general climate conditions. Here are some easy and simple tips to help you live a clean, comfortable and dust-free life!

1.       Minimize Use of Carpets

For all that cosy and homely vibe from carpets and rugs, it is worth remembering that not only do carpets allow a great deal of dust to settle in it, carpets are actually a source of debris as their fibers break down over time. This is why we at ALO Maids recommend that you stick to tiles, laminate and wooden flooring wherever possible and convenient. Those sections of your house where you do chose to use carpets, vacuum them at least twice a day.

2.       Say No to Feather Dusters

Not enough people realise that feather dusters don’t actually remove dust; they merely move it around the home by dispersing it into the air until it lands in a different spot from where it was ‘feathered’ away. Bears to note that trying to get rid of dust in this way could actually exacerbate allergies and respiratory problems. Instead, the better strategy is to carefully ‘collect’ dust by wiping with a slightly damp microfibre cloth.

3.       Use an Air Purifier

Although not all dust floats around the air, there is still a great deal that does. For this reason our team at ALO highly recommend that you use air purifiers to filter the air and remove airborne particles, which is a great way to protect people with allergies and respiratory problems. However, dust mites are not airborne, so you will still need to dust regularly.

4.      Beware of Dust mites!

When cleaning around the house of office remember to give a good thorough shake to cushions, sofa fabric and mattress. A good shake will help to bring all those dust-mites out to the surface. Mites thrive on the dead cells shed by humans and animal skin. According to some studies a typical used mattress may have anywhere from 100,000 to 10 million mites inside. Whenever possible, use sofa and mattress covers after cleaning.

5.     Damp Towel to Clean Surfaces

When it comes to dust mites, the trick is not just the regular shake but its as important to not allow them the opportunity to settle and make home in the first place. This can be achieved by using a damp tower (or other suitable fabric) to wipe the surface of carpets, sofas and mattresses. Our cleaners at ALO Maids recommend you do this once every month.

6. Reduce cushioned furniture

It is often said that a smart strategy for prevention is better than rigorous measures to keep it under control. Dust is no exception. Even after beating and shaking your cushions, it is likely that dust will find a home. Thing is upholstery fabric not only sheds off its own fabric, it welcomes dust particles in the air. For this reason, our professionals recommend that you minimize the use of upholstered furniture by opting for leather- or vinyl-covered furniture.
